my story
hello friend,
I am a software developer by trade who realised after a severe burnout that I don't like AI.
it removed all the fun parts of my job while keeping all the stressful parts. I saw how quickly my industry shifted towards reaping as much benefit as possible from this new AI world, with little regard for the costs. human costs. and what disturbed me even more is seeing my colleagues accept this reality. after some time, I decided to never willingly use AI again and uninstalled Claude from my work computer.
I feel sad when I think about the AI future. that we are willing to lose what I see as soulfulness and replacing it with something synthetic and plastic.
I like humans, even with their flaws. I would enjoy the shittiest poem you could write over an AI poem any day. here's one of mine:
THE ROSES
the roses untangle themselves,
and the barren wasteland rings out for comfort,
the time was spent,
and I was mistaken.
as I went deeper into my emotions on the topic, I realised a few things about myself.
- I am letting this control my emotions way too much
- I am not doing any good by being angry & sad
- I need to do something to regain a sense of control and direction, even if flimsy
which led me to build this wiki. it didn't make me feel all good again, and I might still end up leaving software behind, but it's a start.
if you are feeling a bit lost too, I recommend you contribute to the wiki, it might help you a lil. or create your own project, just do something! the antidote is being 500% more human; be quirky, make post-it's for your friends, learn sewing, do tea ceremonies, bind your own notebooks, take analog photos… just do something that feels like the AI can never take it away from you. perhaps you don't even need to share it on social media.
